Celine Cardineau is a sharp intellectual writer. Her art criticism has been published by local galleries and magazines, including Montreal Theatre Hub. She was Online Editor and Head Writer for Yiara Magazine, an undergraduate feminist art history journal. See her critical work below.
She also writes, illustrates, and binds picture books. The first picture book she ever made was a short fairytale she invented to help her baby sister fall sleep. A papyrophiliac, Celine loves giving her books a sensual tactility, emotional profundity, and elegant simplicity.

Personal blog, where Celine explores symbolism as the intersection between art and spirituality ~ between creativity and consciousness.

"Is My Body Me?" 2019
Original text and illustrations by Celine Cardineau
Printed with Concordia University's FASA Grant
How can we teach compassion, critical-thinking, and self-awareness to the next generation? Something as simple as how we understand where the Self ends and the Other begins, defines how we relate to ourselves, to others, and to our environment.
"Is My Body Me?" explores the perceived boundaries of the physical body, as well as identity, subjectivity, consciousness, or Self — and the ways in which these simultaneously limit, transcend, and (in)form each other.
The picture book includes a "Bibliography," a collection of excerpts drawn from intersectional feminist theory, queer theory, puppet theory, psychoanalysis, art history, phenomenology, xenofeminism, gender-fluid parenting, child psychology and other academic sources.
Social change depends on what we transmit to the next generation. Embracing the fluidity, permeability, and subjectivity of the individual’s boundaries is the first step in fostering inclusivity and interconnectivity on a social and political level.
